Job Description Summary

The Senior Associate, Sustainability Reporting will be a key member of the Global Controllership team. This role will be primarily responsible for assisting with the company’s sustainability reporting, including the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (“CSRD”), as well as other external reporting initiatives. This individual will also support the effective management and control of sustainability data, including over greenhouse gas (“GHG”) emissions, and drive compliance with current and future sustainability regulations globally.

This position will report to the Senior Manager, Financial Controls & Sustainability and will have significant interaction with other teams within Global Controllership, Finance, Global Corporate Sustainability, Legal, HR and Operations. A successful candidate will be a hands-on professional with experience in financial reporting, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and desire and ability to identify, recommend and lead process improvements.

Responsibilities

Job Description

  • Monitor, understand and identify potential impact of new sustainability reporting requirements on financial statements and disclosures globally
  • Perform applicability analyses of emerging sustainability regulations at the regional/country level and evaluate reporting requirements and implications on C&W’s strategy and processes
  • Review sustainability disclosures across various jurisdictions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and consistency with global disclosures
  • Support the integration of sustainability metrics into financial reporting, including to facilitate required EU Taxonomy disclosures
  • Research and understand revised European Sustainability Reporting Standards
  • Assist in the remediation of identified compliance gaps for sustainability regulatory reporting disclosure efforts, which may involve updating policies, procedures and disclosures
  • Coordinate cross-functionally to drive sustainability disclosure best practices and support sustainability operating model and governance objectives globally
  • Participate in GHG emissions control implementation, recommending best practices for controls and data governance to ensure audit readiness
  • Assist with the maintenance of the company’s internal controls related to sustainability data, including understanding the inventory management plan, updating process flowcharts and maintaining risk & control matrices
  • Support the Global Corporate Sustainability team throughout limited assurance engagements, acting as a key liaison with external auditors
  • Perform technical accounting research on emerging issues as well as peer benchmarking related to sustainability disclosures
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key business partners
  • Participate in other external reporting workstreams and projects as necessary, such as SEC filings, statutory reporting, internal control remediation, process improvements, and/or training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Sustainability
  • CPA preferred
  • Minimum 3 years public accounting experience and/or experience in financial reporting or sustainability reporting
  • Experience with a global company and/or foreign operations, preferred
  • Understanding of ESG reporting frameworks (CSRD, ISSB, GRI), working with ESG-related assurance engagements and limited assurance reviews, preferred
  • Sarbanes-Oxley compliance experience, preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to build and manage relationships with partners at all levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Self-Starter with a focus on process improvement and project management
  • Ability to deliver under pressure while balancing multiple (and sometimes competing) priorities

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
