Are you a driven candidate with Service Writer experience? If so, we are looking for you! We are growing rapidly and looking for an experienced Service Writer candidate who will partner with our team. The role is located at our Kansas City, MO location.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
You understand the heavy equipment business and have a drive for being an active part of solutions. You set the bar high and set an example for other leaders and colleagues on how to work collaboratively with the highest level of integrity.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Schedules appointments using Custom Truck approved forms.
• Assigns sequence numbers to each customer's repair order.
• Communicates with service customers to determine the nature of the mechanical problem(s).
• Obtains customer and vehicle data.
• Indicates on the repair order the exact repair instructions, making a special note of the main reason(s) the customer brought the vehicle in.
• Notifies technicians of incoming work.
• Write customer Quotes & Estimates for labor and parts.
• Establishes each customer's method of payment. Obtain approval of credit, if necessary.
• Establish "time promised." Work with shop Foremen responsible for work distribution.
• Contacts customers by telephone regarding any changes in the estimate or time promised
• Handles telephone inquiries regarding work in process and appointments.
• Compare final invoice with original quote or estimate.
• Participates in all available training programs.
• Works with all departments in harmony.
• Must have a working knowledge and understanding of Safety Policy, must read, agree and sign
• Computer and software proficiency and can quickly adapt to new systems.
• Excellent listening skills and communicator.
• Must work with a sense of urgency.
• Must have ability to work on several Repair Orders at one time.
• Follows verbal and written communications and communicates effectively with public, customers, co-workers and Owners in a professional and courteous manner both orally and in writing.
• Works in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
• Ability to interface well with all customers, and all departments of the Company and to represent the location in a highly professional manner.
• Ensures that all documents are accounted for.
• Responsive to management requests and manages time efficiently.
• Responsible for setting up and maintaining an organized file system.
• Able to work with minimum supervision, capable of self-checking work.
• Must be computer literate, ability to upload and download files including, but not limited to; docx, pdf, jpeg & gif.
• Exhibit positive interaction with all Custom Truck One Source employees and customers
• Ability to work day shifts with overtime and Saturdays as necessary.
EXPERIENCE
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate throughout all levels of the organization
• Solid problem solving, project management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
• Ability to work under pressure and to react to situations with a strong sense of urgency
• Computer experience – Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel & Networked folder navigational skills
