DCI Engineers – Bozeman
DCI Engineers, headquartered in Seattle, WA, is a leading structural and civil engineering consulting firm with offices in Texas, Colorado, Montana, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and along the West Coast into Alaska. Our Bozeman office currently has an opportunity for a structural engineer to join our existing buildings team in Bozeman, Montana. Our existing buildings team is experienced in assessments, repair, renovation and preservation of existing and historic structures in Montana and the greater region, including Yellowstone National Park, Glacier National Park and historic Uptown Butte. This position allows the opportunity to see some of the most historic structures in our area and to work with a variety of building types including log, unreinforced masonry, and concrete structures.
Responsibilities of a Structural Project Engineer:
- On-site documentation, testing and assessment of existing structures. Projects are typically in Montana and Yellowstone National Park but may allow for more extensive travel in the western United States.
- Interface with user groups, property managers and owners, preservation groups and/or historic architects.
- Assemble assessment reports and repair recommendations under the supervision of the Project Manager.
- Perform and coordinate the structural design of assigned existing buildings projects under the supervision of the Project Manager.
- Collaborate with BIM Designers to produce structural construction documents and draft details in REVIT.
- Assist Project Managers with Construction Support, including site visits, shop drawing review and answering RFIs.
- Be attentive to details and provide accurate construction documents.
- Progressively grow your technical knowledge in the existing building assessments and renovations through both internal project experience and continuing education.
Requirements for a Structural Engineer:
- 2-5 years of structural engineering experience, including experience in or the willingness to learn existing building assessment and design.
- Working knowledge and project experience using steel, concrete, wood, and masonry design materials
- Experience designing all categories of seismic and gravity framing systems and lateral wind resisting systems.
- Basic knowledge of design/build codes, such as the AISC, ACI 318, IBC, and ASCE 7, IEBC and ASCE 41.
- Working knowledge of structural analysis software, such as RAM Elements, Enercalc, etc. and experience in Excel.
- Ability to manage your time, juggling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Desire to provide excellent service and build client relationships
- Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Effective communication skills
- Willingness to travel and for field investigations.
- Possess a state-issued Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate
- Structural/Civil/Architectural Engineering degree from an ABET accredited university, preferred.
- Master’s degree preferred
