What are the responsibilities and job description for the Loan Assistant/Backup Teller position at D.L. Evans Bank?
The Loan Assistant/Backup Teller is responsible for providing clerical support for commercial lending activities under direct supervision. He or she types, prepares, and files a variety of documents; opens mail; and performs miscellaneous clerical functions as needed. The Loan Assistant/Backup Teller provides high quality and professional service to customers at all times. Also serves as a backup to the teller line.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Processes loan payments and tracks insurance on business loans
- May monitor disbursements on construction and development loans
- Types a variety of documents, records, and reports
- Opens, sorts, and distributes mail
- Receives deposits in person or by mail
- Processes cash advances, gift/travel cards, cashiers’ checks, government bonds, and similar transactions
- Receives loan payments in person or by mail
- Disburses cash or for checks/withdrawals and pays out money after verification of signatures and customer balances
- Processes assigned cash and transactions and balances at end of day
- Verifies transactions. Monitors deposit amounts, and examine documents for proper endorsement and negotiability. Detects and resolves discrepancies promptly
- Operates online teller terminal. Provides in person, by telephone, or by mail, information that customers may authorize concerning their account status
- Processes transfers
- Places holds on uncollected funds when necessary in accordance with established policy
- Assist with Safe Deposit Box
- Answers telephone calls and assists customers with questions and concerns. Directs calls to appropriate person/department as necessary. Records and relays messages as appropriate
- Maintains security of assigned work area. Places cash in teller drawer and locks all drawers when leaving work area
- Receives account holders change of address and forwards documentation to the appropriate department
- Ensures that customers' requests and questions are promptly resolved
- Obtains and conveys information as needed
- Coordinates functions with related departments and Branches and provides support as needed
- Helps other area personnel as required
- Keeps management informed of area activities and any significant problems or concerns
- Maintains and projects the Bank's professional reputation
- Promotes D.L. Evans Bank at all times
- Serves as a representative for D.L. Evans Bank in the community
- Completes special projects as assigned
- Attends meetings as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous experience helpful, particularly in a financial environment
- Basic knowledge of commercial and consumer loan services and procedures preferred
- Familiarity with general loan documentation helpful
- Accurate and attentive to detail
- Well organized
- Good typing skills
- Willing and able to help others
- Able to use a computer, adding machine, copy machine, and basic business equipment
- Able to get along well with coworkers
