The Vice President, Corporate Communications is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping, advancing, and executing Dairy MAX's integrated communications strategy with an enhanced and intentional focus on farmer engagement, alignment, and trust-building. Partnering closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), this role ensures Dairy MAX's communications elevate farmer voices, strengthen producer relationships, and clearly connect organizational strategy to on‑farm impact.

This leader serves as the steward of Dairy MAX's reputation, brand narrative, and advocacy efforts ensuring consistent, authentic, and compelling communications across internal teams, farmers, boards, partners, and external stakeholders. The VP will drive alignment across verticals and Centers of Excellence (CoEs), ensuring communications reinforce Dairy MAX's strategic priorities while deepening credibility, transparency, and engagement with farmers.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Alignment

  • Partner with the CEO to develop and execute an integrated corporate communications strategy that advances Dairy MAX's mission, brand, and long‑term strategic priorities
  • Ensure enterprise‑wide alignment across internal verticals and CoEs to deliver cohesive messaging, shared narratives, and integrated execution
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on communications, reputation management, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement

Farmer Engagement & Communications

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive farmer engagement communications strategy that prioritizes transparency, relevance, and two‑way communication
  • Ensure farmer perspectives, needs, and outcomes are consistently reflected in corporate messaging, storytelling, and advocacy efforts
  • Translate organizational strategy, investments, and impact into clear, meaningful communications that resonate with dairy farmers and reinforce value
  • Partner with internal teams to elevate farmer voices through storytelling, testimonials, thought leadership, and peer‑to‑peer advocacy
  • Strengthen trust and credibility with farmers by ensuring consistent, authentic, and timely communications across channels

Brand, Reputation & Public Relations

  • Oversee Dairy MAX's reputation management, serving as the primary advisor on public relations, external communications, and issues management
  • Design and implement a robust public relations strategy aligned with brand marketing, sales objectives, and farmer advocacy priorities
  • Position Dairy MAX team members, farmers, and partners as trusted thought leaders and spokespeople within the industry and broader public
  • Oversee brand positioning to enhance trust, credibility, and visibility among farmers, stakeholders, and external audiences

Advocacy & Storytelling

  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies that empower farmers to effectively tell their stories and build trust with consumers and partners
  • Leverage Dairy MAX programs, impact data, and insights to create compelling narratives that demonstrate value and results
  • Ensure storytelling balances business outcomes with on‑farm relevance and real‑world impact

Internal Communications & Culture

  • Lead internal communication strategies that reinforce Dairy MAX's culture, operating principles, and strategic focus
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure internal communications support employee engagement, change management, and organizational alignment
  • Ensure internal teams are informed, connected, and aligned to priorities, messaging, and expectations

Board & External Alignment

  • Align with Dairy Management Inc. (DMI) and the DMI Board of Directors' communication strategy to ensure consistency and clarity
  • Support the Dairy MAX Board by providing clear, concise communications that reinforce priorities, outcomes, and strategic progress

  • Strategic Communications Leadership: Proven ability to design and execute integrated communication strategies aligned with organizational and farmer priorities
  • Farmer & Stakeholder Engagement: Deep experience building trust‑based relationships with farmers, boards, and industry partners
  • Brand & Reputation Management: Expertise in positioning an organization as a credible, trusted industry leader
  • Advocacy & Storytelling: Ability to translate complex industry topics into compelling, farmer‑relevant narratives
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Strong ability to partner across teams and CoEs to drive alignment and execution
  • Leadership & Influence: Ability to lead teams, inspire confidence, and influence at the executive and board level
  • Crisis & Issues Management: Experience navigating sensitive situations while maintaining transparency and brand integrity
  • Internal Communications: Skilled at engaging employees through clear, purposeful communication
  • Data‑Driven Decision Making: Ability to leverage insights and impact data to inform strategy and measure effectiveness

Budget management:

  • Collaborate with appropriate Communication team members and agency personnel in creating accurate budget projections
  • Monitor and manage within the specified program area budget, approving estimates and invoices as necessary
  • Reconcile program costs against budget for appropriate budget accounts
  • Work with team and vendors to manage/mitigate third party costs for maximum benefit to the organization
