What are the responsibilities and job description for the Backup Operator position at Dalco GFT?
Job Title: Backup Operator
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Abide by Dalco Nonwovens policies and procedures as stipulated in the employee handbook
- Follow all safety rules
- Oversee the efficient operation of the non-woven line for your assigned shift
- Supervise and direct other team members to effectively meet objectives set forth by Dalco management
- Set an example for team members, specifically in areas of: work ethics, attitude, waste-consciousness, priorities, punctuality, dependability, etc.
- Work with office staff to facilitate completion of orders
- Be familiar with customer profiles
- Waste management
- Identify problems and assist in the resolution of recurring issues
- Provide feedback to plant manager that could improve efficiency and productivity
- Complete all requisite paperwork in a timely manner
- Must be able to perform all duties of Winder and Hoppers positions efficiently
- Service the needle boards
- Operate equipment including but not limited to the bologna slicer, forklift, and core cutter
- Other duties as needed
Skills:
- Excellent communications skills and the ability to articulate to subordinates in a timely a manner
- Ability to work with tools and machinery to assist with maintenance as needed
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to read, write, spell and understand English
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Must be proficient after training with computer and labeling system
- Ability to use a tape measure
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 10 lbs
- Occasionally lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to climb, crawl, and move in and around machinery safely
