Technology Advisor

The Danbury Westerners are a college summer baseball team playing at Rogers Park in Danbury, CT. 2025 will be our 30th season in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. 268 former Westerners have played professional baseball with 29 reaching the major leagues. 

We are a volunteer driven organization composed of men and women who enjoy being around others who like baseball. We like working together to make attending a Westerner game a great experience for people of all ages and all levels of interest in the game. In the last three years we have spent $315,000 on infrastructure improvements at our ballpark. We have upgraded our student intern program to provide an experience similar to a job they could expect with a minor league baseball, hockey or soccer team. We have upgraded the fan experience to go beyond just the ballgame. Attending a Westerner game includes on and off field activities that gives our games a non-stop fun atmosphere. Young families looking for an affordable night out are a large part of the Westerner fan base.   

Westerner Technology Advisor Responsibilities

·       Pre-season set up and troubleshooting of infrastructure for 5 camera, 2 broadcaster, 1 director and 1 sideline reporter HUDL TV livestream.

·       Pre-season set up and troubleshooting of infrastructure for public address, on field emcee, official scorer, Trackman and Synergy Systems. 

·       Leading and training a crew of college students in all aspects of planning and execution of the livestream. 

·       At the start of the season, continuing to train and advise the livestream crew.

·       For the duration of the season be present on game nights to assist with infrastructure issues on all systems. 

·       Consult on equipment purchases to upgrade and enhance the program. 

The work begins about May 15 and runs until sometime in the first half of August. We estimate that about 80% of the work is done from May 15 to June 15. 

This is an independent contractor position with a stipend of $2500 to be paid in three equal installments – June 15, July 15 and August 15. 

Our philosophy for working with our students is to very specifically lay out their responsibilities, give them the training they need to understand their responsibilities, then get out of the way while they manage their responsibilities. Our students are expected to make decisions and be creative. We do not micromanage.
