The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Office of Administration (OA), Enterprise Technology Services Office (ETSO) is seeking a System Administrator/Product Specialist to serve as the expert on Windows server administration and ensure the availability of the products for the application teams and end users. The ideal candidate will possess 5 years with MS Windows Server in a large organization setting, 5 years of Microsoft IIS configuration and support, and 5 years of with HTTP Server/Apache support.
The candidate will also be responsible for evaluating, preparing, and recommending technical solutions, as well as troubleshooting complex problems with a wide variety of applications.
The System Administrator/Product Specialist will be tasked to:
- Serve as the expert on Windows server administration and ensure the availability of the products for the application teams and end users
- Evaluate, prepare, and recommend technical solutions, as well as troubleshoot complex problems with a wide variety of applications
- Collaborate with Technical Architecture Specialist, System Specialists, Programmers, and vendors to ensure and enhance the use of the product and effect migration to new versions of a product
- Function as the Technical SME on an enterprise-wide system
- Maintain responsibility for implementations of products and services that involve significant Commonwealth and federal oversight
- Provide direct technical expertise to Executive applications involving national security
- Deliver support and design for industry specific applications that require integration with statewide systems or applications
- Interact with executive level business users or technical experts
- Demonstrate expertise in teaching and conveying technical or functional courses and concepts
- Develop appropriate work programs and use them to effectively schedule tasks and assignments
- Identify improvements to project standards to achieve high quality services and products
- Contribute as an expert or actual designer
- Provide accurate estimates for design and programming efforts for system changes and enhancements
- Confirm that technical architecture will support all changes required by product enhancements
- Anticipate, identify, track, and resolve issues and risks affecting own work and work of the Application Team
- Develop contingency plans as necessary
- Apply specific expertise to ensure that products meet defined customer objectives
- Anticipate and resolve issues specific to the team
- Determine time estimates and schedule for own work and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Determine server sizing and configuration, printer configuration, bandwidth analysis, and capacity planning
- Monitor the availability of updates and upgrades to server hardware, tests and installs updates
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required including ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Identify and track issues, risks, and action items
- Participate in product design reviews to verify that design meets quality standards and functional/technical requirements
- Perform impact analyses on production fixes and enhancements to establish priorities
- Provides basic product support and provide accurate and complete answers to detailed product questions in a timely manner
- Provide effective on-site product support as needed
- Set severity of identified defects
- Provide input to training and documentation materials regarding latest technical and functional design changes
