What are the responsibilities and job description for the R&D Intern position at DAP?
DAP is looking to hire R&D Intern for Summer 2025.
Responsibilities:
The summer intern would work under mentorship of a senior scientist / Supervisor to perform collaborative research for development adhesives or repair products with unique and differentiated properties.
The intern will work on
- Water-based exterior high-performance sealant development and/or new packaging options for kitchen & bath as well as related performance evaluations.
- Will involve making batches in mixing equipment and testing properties such as texture, density, viscosity and pH.
- Test specimen substrates also will be constructed according to ASTM specifications for performance testing of compounded sealants.
- Summarize results collected during the summer and present data/ analysis to R&D group.
- Actual project(s) at time of hire tbd.
Requirements
- Major: Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
- Sophomore, Junior, or Senior.
- General lab skills (weighing materials on benchtop scale, transferring liquids/solids from one container to another, adherence to lab safety rules).
- Formulating, mixing, ability to research test methods and raw materials. general understanding of sealants and adhesives.
- Likes to work with hands-on testing in a laboratory setting.
- Attention to details, inquisitive, good notes taker, desire to learn and grow.
Pay
- $17 / hour.
