Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Director of Network Engineering to lead the strategy, architecture, and day-to-day operations of our enterprise network infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring secure, scalable, and highly available network services supporting voice, data, collaboration, and business-critical applications across a distributed environment.
The Director will provide technical leadership, mentor a high-performing engineering team, and partner closely with IT leadership, security, and business stakeholders to align network capabilities with organizational goals. This position requires deep hands-on expertise combined with strong people and operational management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the overall network engineering strategy, architecture, and roadmap
- Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of enterprise network infrastructure
- Oversee day-to-day network operations, performance, availability, and security
- Manage, mentor, and grow a team of network engineers and technical leads
- Establish standards, best practices, and operational procedures for network services
- Drive initiatives to improve network reliability, scalability, and security posture
- Partner with security teams to implement and maintain robust firewall and access control solutions
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams on integrated solutions
- Lead network infrastructure projects from planning through delivery
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and technology evaluations
- Own capacity planning, lifecycle management, and budget forecasting
- Serve as an escalation point for complex network issues and incident response
Required Skills & Expertise
- Strong expertise in enterprise network design, implementation, and support
- Hands-on experience with Fortinet and Palo Alto firewalls, including security policy design and troubleshooting
- Advanced knowledge of Cisco ISE for secure access control and identity-based networking
- Deep experience with Cisco Nexus switching and data center networking
- Experience managing Cisco Meraki cloud-managed network environments
- Strong understanding of WebEx administration and enterprise collaboration platforms
- In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), VLANs, and VPN technologies
- Experience supporting VoIP and unified communications environments
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-layer network issues
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Skills
- Experience with SD-WAN architectures and next-generation networking solutions
- Familiarity with network automation and orchestration tools
- Exposure to cloud networking in AWS and/or Azure environments
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Splunk, or similar)
- Knowledge of industry security frameworks and compliance best practices
- Scripting or automation experience using Python, PowerShell, or similar languages
- Strong project leadership skills and experience working in Agile environments
Experience Requirements
- 10 years of progressive experience in network engineering
- 5 years in a leadership or management role overseeing enterprise network teams
- Demonstrated success delivering large-scale network infrastructure initiatives
- Proven experience managing network security, performance, and incident response
- Experience owning operational budgets and forecasting infrastructure costs
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

- CCIE or CCNP
- Palo Alto PCNSE
- Fortinet NSE 4 or higher
- CISSP or equivalent security certification
