Purpose:
The Export Compliance Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day operations within the company’s global export control and sanctions framework by ensuring that controlled products are recognized, trading partners and upcoming shipment are screened, licenses are applied for, and colleagues are trained.
Key accountabilities:
- Identify risks of violating laws and regulations relating to exports and denied parties, reporting risks to persons responsible in business and/or region. Ensure appropriate actions are taken to mitigate the risks.
- Conduct annual risk assessment and evaluation of the effectiveness of the export control framework.
- Ensure all dual-use substances, materials and products and technology in the business are identified and classified. Maintain a classification registry. Organize identification and registration of substances, materials and products subject to other control regimes.
- Ensure export licenses are in place for the export of relevant substances, materials and products and technology in accordance with laws and regulations. Ensure licenses and related correspondence are adequately documented and maintained.
- Stay abreast of export control and sanction laws and regulations relevant to the business.
- Review shipments various Export Review/Control Status. Block shipments that are not permitted under sanction and export regulations and report the block immediately if the block should be maintained.
- Ensure records relating to export of controlled products are kept in accordance with regulations and internal rules.
- Ensures that sales documentation is in line with export control requirements, e.g., license references.
- Ensure that for the sale of controlled products contracts and/or terms and conditions are in place with suitable export control provisions and End-use Statements as required.
- Maintain export compliance work instructions, policies and procedures, and processes.
- Facilitating and implementing proactive export compliance solutions, maintaining classification of all Export Compliance items and data management licenses and associated recordkeeping in accordance with government standards and regulations as well as assisting in administering audit activities.
- Perform product reviews to accurately confirm or determine US Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS US) Codes, Schedule B codes, US Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN’s), and USML codes.
- Maintain database(s) and assist with various activities relating to the maintenance of HTS, Schedule B, ECCN, and USML codes as well as country of origin within the company’s systems.
- Maintain logs for export licenses, license exceptions, end use / end user reviews, etc.
- Ensure denied party screening is performed on all parties involved in each transaction using Visual Compliance as provided by the company or by using authorized agent. Review to resolve false hits or escalate as needed.
- Perform end use / end user reviews as needed. Investigate and escalate any red flag situation that may arise.
- Ensure all export documentation is retained according to applicable recordkeeping laws and regulations as well as company policy. This will include any necessary filing, scanning, uploading, maintenance of logs, etc.
- Conduct or coordinate departmental training as needed to increase awareness of U.S. export control regulations as well as import best practices to ensure compliance.
- Conduct or assist with various audits and / or assessments relating to export compliance. Assist with the implementation of corrective actions as needed and monitor on on-going basis.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Experience and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related area preferred.
- Experience in the aerospace and defense industry in an export control or compliance position is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of EAR, ITAR, FTR, and OFAC concepts, practices, etc.
- A minimum of 2 years import and export experience including technology controls, export jurisdiction and classification, HTS / Schedule B classification, deemed export review and authorizations, AES filing and ACE portal, export documentation, incoterms, valuation methodologies for import and export, as well as import declarations and processes.
