What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Field Technician position at Data-Tech?

The Field Service Technician will provide superior support to a subset of Data-Tech customers in a complex network and/or hosting solutions environment. They will troubleshoot systems and application incidents to provide the maximum availability and optimal Mean Time to Repair (MTTR). They will ensure the Support Center has all documentation necessary to understand and support their clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains computer systems, hardware, and computer peripherals.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and repairs product failures.
  • Deliver superior customer service in a professional and timely manner.
  • Answer customer questions about product features and demonstrate how to use when necessary.
  • Maintains parts inventory and orders/replaces parts as needed.
  • Logs all service/repair activity.
  • Analyzes existing networks and equipment and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensures all field service projects are completed in a timely manner to meet customers' needs.
  • Assists in the evaluation, testing, and validation of IT systems, services and /or software.
  • Assesses service levels and product performance to ensure they meet established quality standards.
  • Travels on-site to clients located throughout the state of Florida. MUST have a valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for all services performed, monitoring, and updating Work Orders as needed.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures while working on multiple priorities and /or projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ensure rapid response, escalation, and resolution to achieve the restoration of services.
  • Ability to resolve root cause problems with complex Windows domain environments.
  • Maintain and improve client loyalty.
  • Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the client infrastructure.

Employees are expected to demonstrate:

  • Experience with 2008-2020 Server Operations
  • Experience in server hardware builds and remediation
  • Experience with Hyper-V virtualization
  • Experience using backup and recovery technologies
  • Experience with firewalls, switches, and wireless infrastructure
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange and email protocols
  • Experience with virus removal and system recovery
  • Ability to repair and recover from hardware or software failures
  • Advanced experience in Active directory and DNS concepts
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft RDS environments
  • Advanced understanding of network protocols and troubleshooting techniques

Experience in the following technologies preferred, but not required:

Job Requirements:

A clean 7-year criminal background check and clean 3-year MVR is a requirement for this position. Must have and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License. Must be able to work rotating shifts, weekends, and travel to job sites during off hours if needed. Must possess the mobility to work in a standard office setting (on site or off), and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, concentration to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and/ or over the telephone. Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to drive a motorized vehicle.
