What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lieutenant position at Dauphin County?
Dauphin County Prison is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Lieutenant. An employee in this position will provide very responsible supervisory work in correctional security and associated services. He/she directs junior personnel in performance of all routine and extraordinary tasks ensuring the safety and security of staff, inmates, visitors, premises, and property. He/she acts as Assistant Shift Commander (or in the latter's absence, as Shift Commander) to ensure adherence to effective Post Orders and other official directions. The incumbent reports to the Shift Commander (duty Captain), Director of Security, Warden, or the Director of Corrections, as the last directs.
Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program plus completion of an accredited course in corrections given by a community college, or by an authorized agency of Federal, State, or Local government. The candidate must possess at least two years' correctional experience. Must be 21 years of age at the time of employment. A favorable criminal background check is required.
