What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sports Lighting Installer / Equipment Operator position at Davco Electrical Contractors?
Summary: This position will install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, fixtures, and poles under the direction of an electrician and in accordance with relevant codes.
Job Summary
- Construction/installation of sports lighting and utility poles.
- Clear trees and other vegetation as needed.
- Operate heavy equipment to excavate and install lighting and poles.
- Read blueprints or technical diagrams.
- Install or repair wiring, equipment, or outdoor fixtures using hand tools and power tools
- Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Maintain a safe working environment while demonstrating safe work habits and proper care of equipment and tools
- Inspects lines, poles and equipment for signs of damage or wear and reports deficiencies.
- Assists in carrying poles, digging holes, piking and guiding poles and other such operations involved in the setting or replacing of poles; may erect steel towers.
General Requirements
- Must be able to work 100’ above ground via use of approved OSHA approved man lifts and fall protection.
- CDL Class A preferred.
- Must have a current driver’s license and clean driving history.
- Must be at least 21 for insurance purposes.
- Ability to travel within the state during the day and occasionally overnight.
- Must possess basic electrical or carpentry and math skills.
Physical Requirements
- This position requires a considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Lift arms above shoulder level.
- Lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Climb ladders (all Types).
- Be able to wear all (PPE) Personal Protection Equipment.
- Complete overhead work for a full day assignment.
- Must be able make transition from employee parking or street into construction work areas and to gain access to all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A approved site construction ladder or stairs under construction, but acceptable and safe use.
- Good vision and hearing (normal or corrected).

Pay: $23.93 - $32.82 per hour
