- Must be able to teach all levels of the Language Arts curriculum to include willingness to accept higher level course assignment(s).
- Knowledge and skills using technology.
- Knowledge of the Common Core related to Language Arts.
- Knowledge and application of literacy and writing strategies in the content areas.
- Must work cooperatively with students, staff, and parents to maintain a positive climate in the school.
- Must be willing to participate in building professional development initiatives concentrating on literacy.
- Must be skilled at teaching in a team atmosphere and be a participant on a building focus team.
- Willingness to work as a member of a collaborative teacher team.
- Willingness to deliver curriculum for students in advisory setting.
- Follow district and building policies.
- Co-teach with special education staff in a collaborative effort to benefit instruction to all students.
- Must have strong writing skills and be skilled in teaching all facets of writing.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reach his/her full potential.
- Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
- Skilled, understands and utilizes MTSS or willingness to be trained/knowledgeable.
- Skilled, understands and utilizes PBIS or willingness to be trained/knowledgeable.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to -
- Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.
- Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
- Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather.
- Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
- Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.
