Position Overview
Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc., a Davey company, is a seeking a mid-level Environmental Scientist with three to five years of relevant experience to join our team in Virginia Beach.
Primary Duties
- Wetlands Delineation
- Stream Assessments
- Federal and State Wetland Permit Applications
- Chesapeake Bay Preservation Studies and Approvals
- Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
- NEPA/SERP documentation
- Wetlands Mitigation Monitoring
- Stream Restoration Monitoring
- Endangered and Threatened Species Studies
Qualifications
REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or a related discipline
- Wetland Professional in Training (WPIT) or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Strong knowledge plant identification (including trees and shrubs) and soil profiling
- Working experience with GIS and field GPS use
- Experience coordinating with federal and state resource agencies
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines under limited supervision
- Ability to understand engineering plans and E&S plans
- Knowledge of land development practices
- Experience working with a diverse client base in both the public and private sectors
- Willingness to regularly travel regionally
PREFERRED
- Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) designation
- Master’s Degree in environmental sciences or a related discipline
- Experience working with a diverse client base in both the public and private sectors
- Understanding of NEPA, RCRA and CERCLA regulations
- Working knowledge of CAD
