Position Overview

Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc., a Davey company, is a seeking a mid-level Environmental Scientist with three to five years of relevant experience to join our team in Virginia Beach.


Primary Duties

  • Wetlands Delineation
  • Stream Assessments
  • Federal and State Wetland Permit Applications
  • Chesapeake Bay Preservation Studies and Approvals
  • Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
  • NEPA/SERP documentation
  • Wetlands Mitigation Monitoring
  • Stream Restoration Monitoring
  • Endangered and Threatened Species Studies

Qualifications


REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or a related discipline
  • Wetland Professional in Training (WPIT) or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Strong knowledge plant identification (including trees and shrubs) and soil profiling
  • Working experience with GIS and field GPS use
  • Experience coordinating with federal and state resource agencies
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines under limited supervision
  • Ability to understand engineering plans and E&S plans
  • Knowledge of land development practices
  • Experience working with a diverse client base in both the public and private sectors
  • Willingness to regularly travel regionally


PREFERRED

  • Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) designation
  • Master’s Degree in environmental sciences or a related discipline
  • Experience working with a diverse client base in both the public and private sectors
  • Understanding of NEPA, RCRA and CERCLA regulations
  • Working knowledge of CAD
