What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at David Evans & Associates Inc?
DEA’s Corporate Office is looking for a Staff Accountant to be part of our Corporate Finance Team in Portland, OR. This role is primarily responsible for supporting transaction accounting, monthly close, financial reporting, compute and prepare use tax returns, and internal control activities. This is an opportunity for someone to join an experienced finance team and help with the financial processes and procedures of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for month and year end reconciliations
- Prepare and review monthly closing entries
- Prepare financial reports and reconcile transactions to the general ledger
- Bank reconciliations
- Supports all annual audits as required
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations
- Gather information for various industry surveys
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations
- Support business license, stock, and deferred compensation functions
- Assist with testing, implementation and training of others during system integrations and process improvements
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Participates in annual budgeting efforts as required
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 5 years of general ledger experience
- Understanding of US tax regulations
- Computer knowledge: Microsoft Office Suite including strong Excel skills with the ability to use formulas
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the Architecture, Engineering, or Construction field
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics SL
