What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey Project Manager position at David Evans & Associates Inc?
DEA is seeking a Survey Project Manager to join a dynamic team and help grow our Northern California survey practice. This position is based in Sacramento, CA. The primary focus of this position will be to bring excellent service to our clients by managing and delivering exceptional quality survey projects that are on time and on budget. The Survey Project Manager’s duties include writing proposals, developing and managing project budgets and schedules, managing survey crews and office staff in performing control, boundary, topography, ALTA, right of way, and construction surveying services. Since DEA is dedicated to utilizing cutting edge technology, the Survey Project Manager will have many conventional and geospatial tools (GPS, terrestrial laser scanning, unmanned aerial systems, mobile mapping systems and hydrographic mapping systems) available to utilize on projects. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
- Develop tactical action plans for project and or client pursuits
- Develop new and maintain existing client relationships within the markets and regions we currently operate
- Pursuit champion; manage and coordinate pursuits with the business unit business development manager, regional BU and Segment managers, other PM’s and the business unit/marketing manager
- Identify top desired clients for the year; vet and establish regional client/market development teams
- Provide input in the development of the business development budget for the BU in the region
- Meeting regional sales goal and client satisfaction and survey participation results collectively with other business development staff in Land Development and Transportation markets.
- Performing calculations
- Quality control oversight
- Coordinating with other DEA disciplines and clients
- Directing the field and office crewmembers in the performance of their duties and mentoring and coaching them to advance within the survey profession as their individual abilities allow
- Proposal writing and budgets for existing projects in California.
Basic Qualifications:
- Capable of self-managing projects, communicating well with clients and mentoring junior level staff members
- Licensed Professional Land Surveyor
- Familiarity with state and county mapping requirements
- Strong computer skills with CAD and Land Surveying software such as: AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation Open Roads, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Able to work well in a team environment
- Proposal writing and project execution
- Mentoring and leading staff on Geospatial techniques and principles.
