Position Summary: Responsible for assuring effective daily operation of the assigned laboratory section under the general direction of the Laboratory Manager, Chief Technologist and in conjunction with the Laboratory Director. Participates in committees pertaining to assigned section as needed. All duties will be performed in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards and will comply with all criteria mandated by appropriate accrediting and licensing agencies. Provides consultative services to the medical staff regarding the assigned section s instructed by the Laboratory Director, Associate Pathologist, or Laboratory Manager. Performs medical technologist duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications: Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science degree or HHS certified Minimum Experience: Sufficient previous experience in all areas of the laboratory. Minimum two years experience in the assigned laboratory section of responsibility Required Certification/Registration: ASCP certification or equivalent WV license or eligibility Specialty certification preferred Physical Demands: Occasional prolonged standing/walking Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching and lifting Working Conditions: Handles emergency or crisis situations Exposed to odorous chemicals and specimens Exposed to infection from disease-bearing specimens Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards
