Mortgage Loan Originator
Day Air Credit Union is currently seeking qualified candidates for full-time Mortgage Loan Originator. Training is provided to assist you in learning the products and services offered by Day Air. The Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) will fulfil Day Air’s mission of enhancing members’ financial well-being by providing exceptional member service; and by working with internal and external referral partners to generate mortgage loan growth.
GENERAL FUNCTION:
Performs a wide range of duties relating to the origination of residential 1st mortgage loans for outside referrals. Meets standards and objectives defined by management for mortgage loan sales and cross-selling objectives. Assumes overall responsibility for the residential mortgage loan from application to closing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Business Development (50%)
- Prepare and execute an annual business plan that will promote mission focused loan origination and meet origination goals.
- Work with Realtors, branches, and other referral sources to generate new mortgage opportunities.
- Cultivate existing Realtor relationships to grow Day Air mortgage business line.
- Partner with Day Air marketing department to generate and execute effective marketing campaigns to members, prospects, and referral sources.
- Effectively manage a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system provided by Day Air.
Member Service (40%)
- MLO is expected to meet with members and prospects (face-to-face, in branch, in Realtor office, phone or e-mail) to originate new mortgage applications during peak and off-peak hours, as necessary.
- Request and attain necessary loan documents from borrowers to submit complete loan packages to underwriting.
- Consult members and borrowers on best mortgage options available by Day Air.
- Effectively communicate loan status updates to borrowers and move applications to closings in a timely fashion.
Compliance and Training (5%)
- Complete Day Air provided training courses to become knowledgeable in credit union loan policies and procedures including; consumer loans, mortgage loans and member business loans. Emphasis placed on mortgage lending.
- Knowledgeable in, and adheres to, all applicable mortgage loan compliance (TRID, QM, ATR, NMLS registration, etc…).
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or equivalent mandatory. Post-secondary education a plus.
- Two years of mortgage lending experience.
- Must have an established book of local referral sources that refer business to you (e.g. realtors, accountants, lawyers, financial planners, etc.).
- Must have existing minimum mortgage sales of $675,000.00 per month.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Demonstrated teamwork and customer service skills.
- Basic sales technique skills.
- Strong desire to excel in a competitive environment.
- This position requires S.A.F.E. Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). The NMLS web site (mortgage.nationwidelicensingsystem.org) provides the MU4R questions and registration required for employment in this position.
