Position Overview
The Center Director is responsible for the general management of the center. S/he administers the program objectives and activities ensuring high quality standards are met within a safe and healthy environment. The Center Director must understand and implement agency policies in all areas including finances, personnel, and maintenance. The Director ensures that the center meets regulatory requirements at all times. One of the most important responsibilities of the Center
Director is to foster an environment where everyone is valued-families, teachers, staff members, and children. This requires the Center Director to be an effective communicator, problem-solver, and conflict resolver.
Key Responsibilities
- Exercise organizational leadership by inspiring confidence and respect of staff, families, children and community leaders; taking initiative to solve problems; and effectively handling unexpected situations
- Supervise staff by providing consistent feedback utilizing observations, evaluations, and open communication
- Develop a staff development plan that includes recruiting, hiring, and on-boarding new staff; assisting staff with completing their required training plans; and on-going coaching
- Manage the early childhood and school age programs by ensuring all PHLpreK, Keystone Stars, DHS, CACFP, DPH, and agency goals are met including regulatory compliance
- Plan the curriculum ensuring that the teachers are implementing the Creative Curriculum by Teaching Strategies to fidelity
- Ensure that the teachers are conducting assessments and observations consistently and documenting them in Teaching Strategies Gold On-line (early learning)
- Manage children and family issues making referrals as needed; facilitating family meetings/conferences; and enforcing policies consistently
- Work with outside representatives as needed to support agency goals
- Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
- Classroom teaching experience
- Program supervisory experience beyond classroom
- Experience with implementing the Creative Curriculum by Teaching Strategies
- Experience with Teaching Strategies Gold On-line
- Experience working in a Keystone Stars center
- Experience evaluating lesson plans using PA Early Learning Standards
- Strong observation and assessment skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills and computer skills
- Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment
- A strong understanding of child development
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- High energy
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification
- Must clear full background check including PA criminal, child abuse, and FBI
- Current health assessment including TB screening
- National Sex Offenders Registry
Physical Requirements
- Lift/carry at least 40 pounds
- Physical movement throughout the day including walks and light exercise with the children

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
