Day Kimball Health is hiring for a Multi Service Technician to join our Environmental Services department in Putnam, CT! Location : Putnam, CT Schedule: Per Diem (as needed), 1st and 2nd shift Weekends: Rotating, every other Per Diem Requirement: Per diem employees are expected to work a minimum of two 8-hour shifts (16 hours total) per month. - Demonstrates knowledge of hospital facilities to transport or direct patient transport in an organized fashion.
- Operates ASCOM phones, task phones and computers to enter or complete tasks.
- Demonstrates competency in appropriate body mechanics, transport equipment use, proper use of PPE, patient confidentially and customer service.
- Directs or escorts ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients from originating department to receiving department or discharge location using a variety of hospital equipment including hospital bed, stretcher and wheelchair. Performs required handoff communication at completion of tasks.
- Confirms two patient identifiers (patient’s name and date of birth); validating information against patient’s wristband.
- Transports equipment, X-ray requests, lab specimens and/or lab slips within the facility in a safe and timely manner.
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred.
- Is physically capable to complete physically demanding tasks including frequent walking, heavy lifting and using patient transport equipment.
- May require job-specific training including AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification (or equivalent) and NVCIT (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training).
- Ability to operate patient transport equipment including wheelchairs, stretchers, hospital beds and oxygen tank transportation devices. Ability to operate technology including ASCOM phones, task phones, hospital phones and computer.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
- Ability to communicate with co-workers, patients and visitors in highly professional manner while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, crouch, reach, push and/or pull, and occasionally lift/move 35-40 pounds.
- Ability to maneuver patient transport equipment (ex: wheelchairs, stretchers, hospital beds, bariatric equipment) while accommodating patients of varying weights, including those exceeding 350 pounds.
- Ability to frequently lift items weighing 10-35 pounds from floor to table; lift items weighing 10-25 pounds from table to shoulder; lift items weighing 10-25 pounds above shoulder.
- Ability to occasionally lift items weighing 10-50 pounds with assistance as needed.
- Significant walking or other means of mobility, depending on business necessities.
