National Compliance Specialist
Full-time; 7:30 am – 4:00pm
York. PA

The Compliance Specialist is responsible for various compliance functions to ensure the company remains compliant with all DOT regulations and company policies. The Compliance Specialist coordinates with the National Manager of Compliance as well as operation team members to maximize fleet readiness and efficiency by ensuring regulatory and company policies are up to date across the Day & Ross organization.

How You’ll Help

  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding transportation and workplace safety (FMCSR,OSHA)
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Review and approve Driver Qualification files in accordance with DOT regulations and company minimum hiring criteria
  • Monitor all compliance items including DOT physicals, licenses, annual reviews, clearinghouse queries and update the compliance system as needed
  • Monitor ELD devices, HOS compliance, conducts training for new drivers on equipment use, and assist with troubleshooting device errors and failures. Assist in the maintenance and auditing of driver logs per HOS regulations
  • Ensures random drug testing for all drivers is completed in accordance with US DOT regulations and company policies
  • Ensures post accident testing is conducted in accordance with US DOT regulations and company policies
  • Coordinate or assist with processing CMV registrations, renewals, permits and licensing on all company assets.
  • Assist with roadside inspections and CSA compliance to include: verifying that all defects have been corrected and sent back to the applicable state to stay compliant with DOT. Assign Carriers Edge lessons and corrective actions to applicable drivers
  • Add/update/maintain physical damage, bobtail/dead head insurance coverage for all leased operator equipment
  • Interact with different corporate departments and assist with obtaining necessary documentation for claims handlers
  • Effectively maintain professional attitude and be a source of solutions or guidance for all compliance issues
  • Coordinate and assist with audits and inspections of the company assets and vendor practices to monitor compliance with all FMCSR requirements.
  • Works closely through collaboration with all safety and compliance team members
  • Other related duties as may be required

Your Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a compliance role within the transportation industry
  • Experience with DOT(FMCSA), OSHA
  • Working knowledge of federal and state safety laws, particularly FMCSR & OSHA standards
  • Experience in assessing compliance needs and assisting with program solutions
  • Experience in developing training materials
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Suites (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point etc.)
  • Analysis and identification of risk trends, problems and solutions
  • Dependable, reliable and self-motivated with a proven ability to multi-task
  • Superiorinterpersonal & communication skills; direct, clear and professional presentation of information
  • Ability to prioritize, set goals, and accomplish responsibilities with limited supervision
  • Ability to coach, and mentor drivers
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely using appropriate mediums (for example, face-to-face, e-mail, and presentations), listen effectively and demonstrate understanding
  • Ability to interact cooperatively and collaboratively with others as a team, including those holding divergent and/or opposing views and goals
  • Basic knowledge of Transportation of Hazardous Material Regulations
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Effective written and communications skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
