Forklift operator

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY

Responsible to load / unload material by hand, forklift, or pump truck in a safe manner. Responsible to keep material and supplies flowing throughout the operation.

Ensure operate equipment a safe and accountable manner. Follow all plant safety rules and forklift operation rules.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Maintain and encourage a safe working environment and good housekeeping
• Load, unload and move material and products by hand or using basic material handling equipment throughout the plant including warehousing in a safe and responsible manner.
• Perform other material handling activities such as counting, weighing, sorting, packing, unpacking and labels.
• May be required to open containers and crates, filling warehouse orders, assisting in taking inventory and weighing and checking materials
• Responsible to conduct daily forklift (equipment) checks, updating the binder / report and notifying supervisor / team leader of any issues.
• Ensure compliance with safety guidelines
• Continuously monitor the organization and management of the storage yard and assist in housekeeping as necessary.
• Work as a Team Member in all situations.
• Ensure work cells are equipped with correct quantities and types of containers, scrap bins, etc.
• Back up shipping receiving as required.
• Assist Associates to start coils on the press and die changes.

Work in conjunction with DBG’s quality objectives and understand how poor-quality affects DBG, our customers and the end user of our product

EDUCATION REQUIRED :

• Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
• PIT training Power / Industrial Truck (in house)

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

• 2 years’ experience driving a tow motor in a similar environment (Manufacturing).
• Ability to read, write, and relate the meaning of written instructions to practical application.
• Good communication skills - this Associate interacts with all areas of the company, must be able to communicate well and read material.
• Safety minded at all times.

• Must have a good grasp of customer requirements with relations to quality related aspect.
• Be able to prioritize and adopt to quickly changing requirements.
• Have a good command of Raw Material types / baskets and usage / scrap types.
• Must be able to maneuver safety in tight spaces.
