About the Job:
Position is responsible for performing a wide variety of skilled construction activities in such areas as concrete, structural steel erection, welding, millwrighting, and carpentry. Incumbents may serve as a lead to Construction Workers or Laborers in the absence of a Job Foreman or Job Superintendent. The Skilled Construction Worker is the third level of an eight-level construction series. The Skilled Construction Worker is distinguished from the Construction Worker by the skill and experience level required to perform tasks in three specialized trade areas. The Skilled Construction Worker is distinguished from the Job Foreman which has responsibility for coordinating tasks within a project and serving as a lead to construction crews.
What we are Looking For:
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Reading blueprints, specification, engineering plans.
- Coordinating tasks and/or projects.
- Operating hand and power tools.
- Performing craftwork in area of expertise (see above).
- Operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, end loaders, power tools and all trucks.
- Problem solving.
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
- Valid Driver’s License preferred
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.)
- Or Four years of construction- related experience specializing in two or more trades.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties such as those listed above.
