We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Manufacturing Estimator to join our job shop manufacturing facility. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for accurately projecting costs, determining production processes, and preparing quotations for our custom manufacturing projects.

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the manufacturing process by providing accurate cost estimates for jobs. This position requires strong analytical skills, project management capabilities, and proficiency in jobshop estimating software. The Estimator will collaborate with the plant manager, and machinists to ensure that all aspects of the project are accounted for and that costs are controlled effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze customer specifications, technical drawings, and project requirements to develop accurate cost estimates
  • Determine manufacturing steps, equipment needs, and labor requirements for each project
  • Calculate production costs using labor, raw material, and processing price estimates
  • Prepare formal price and delivery quotations for management and customers
  • Communicate with customers regarding proposals, quotations, and project details
  • Collaborate with various departments, including production, purchasing, and finance, to ensure cost estimates align with organizational goals
  • Assist in the preparation of work instructions for new and revised existing projects
  • Evaluate and recommend cost-saving measures and process improvements
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for quotes projects using JobBoss and other relevant software.
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate estimates of the job costs.
  • Collaborate with the plant manager
  • Issue Purchase Orders, Order Materials, Write Up Jobs
  • Work in Partsbase looking for Jobs to Bid appropriate to shop requirements
  • Conduct site visits to assess conditions and gather information necessary for accurate estimating.
  • Negotiate quotes with subcontractors and suppliers to secure favorable pricing and terms.
  • Monitor project costs throughout the job quoting process to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Provide support during the bidding process by preparing bid proposals and presenting them to customers
  • Maintain organized records of estimates, contracts, and correspondence related to each project.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of machine shop estimating/quoting experience, particularly with medium to high complexity parts
  • Extensive knowledge of CNC Mill and Lathe operations in a job shop environment
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical specifications, drawings, and associated documentation
  • Strong understanding of tooling requirements for specific applications
  • Experience with ERP systems, particularly in planning and manufacturing modules
  • Familiarity with JobBoss software and CNC programming (preferred)
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field (preferred)

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing job shop operations and processes.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Solid negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of cost control measures and best practices in job shop estimating.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate cost assessments.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members
