We have an immediate opening for an EMC Test Technician to work closely with senior EMC and design engineers in a dynamic Medical Device Research and Development environment. This role will have a direct impact ensuring that IEC 61000-4-xx EMC requirements are met. DEKA’s EMC lab services several active projects beginning with early prototype testing through Formal Verification Testing. Testing is either done in-house or at local test facilities.
How you will make an impact:
- Become familiar with the operation and intended use of the medical devices being tested
- Run in-house EMC testing including immunity (per the IEC 61000-4-xx series) ESD, EFT, Surge, Magnetics, Dips and Radiated/Conducted Emissions
- Complete test records following DEKA’s SOPs for good documentation practices
- Use troubleshooting tools to locate problematic electrical and mechanical areas causing excessive emissions or weak immunity
- Contribute to design failure investigations, root-cause analysis and failure mitigation
- Participate in test planning which will be affected by the stage of the device’s development as well as past test results
- Involvement in EMC test expansion within the EMC Lab
- Help create and perform periodic verification of test procedures for test equipment
- Support testing with contract test laboratories
- Review and analysis of internal and external EMC Test Reports
To be successful in this role, you will need the following skills and experience:
- Minimum 2 years EMC test experience
- Familiarity with the IEC 61000-4-xx series of EMC test standards and their test methods
- Knowledge of IEC 60601-1-2 a plus
- Hands on experience with EMC test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, transient noise generators and ESD simulators
- Broad measurement instrument knowledge
- Basic rework skills including soldering and general mechanical
- Ability to read electrical schematics
- Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Self-motivated and able to self-prioritize
- Ability to clearly explain objectives
