What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interior Designer position at Dekker?

Dekker is seeking interior designers with at least 2 years experience in a commercial office to use their communication skills to collaborate in a team-oriented environment on highly creative designs for multiple projects. Dekker also fosters a culture that champions sustainable design solutions and well-being, ensuring that each project contributes to a healthier, more sustainable future for all. As passionate and self-driven team members at Dekker, candidates would play a key role in creating inspired interiors backed by the support of a firm that has been a staple in the industry for over 65 years.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaboratively engage in project work with responsibilities as assigned 
  • Prepare scaled drawings and contract documents for building contractors using Revit 
  • Research and identify products (finishes, fixtures, etc.) 
  • Research codes and other standards as necessary for compliance 
  • Assist in the preparation of studies, reports, and presentations 
  • Plan diagrams/layouts during schematic design, demonstrating ability to arrange a unified design 
  • Join team members on occasion for onsite observation of work during construction administration to monitor compliance with plans 
  • Assist in proper documentation of project files 
  • Assist in developing furniture packages and specifications 
  • Provide general drafting and visualization support while following Dekker standards  
  • Complete tasks essential for proficiency in interior design principles as outlined by the Council for Interior Design Qualification with direction 
  • Identify and communicate progress, accomplishments, challenges, and support needed to complete responsibilities 


Qualifications

  • This is a hybrid work environment with 3 days onsite required. Applicants must live in the Phoenix AZ, Albuquerque NM or El Paso TX area
  • 2 Years of Interior Design experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
  • Foundational knowledge of, InDesign, and Photoshop ideal
  • 1 year of knowledge and experience with Revit in a professional commercial setting 
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office Suite 
  • Basic knowledge of Enscape rendering software
