Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Bariatric Dietitian Coordinator; Supports the dietitian coordinator in all aspects of the pre and postoperative diet plan for all bariatric patients and assist in the coordination of the physician weight management program. Assist the dietitian coordinator in facilitating the monthly support group meetings.

POPULATION SERVED:

Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) served: Morbid obese adult with all co-morbid illness/conditions, including but not limited to: Cardiac/cardiovascular, metabolic, renal, pulmonary, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports the dietitian coordinator in the Medical Nutrition Therapy for Bariatric Center patients throughout the Continuum of Care.
  • Assist in the coordination of monthly pre and postoperative support groups.
  • Responsible for promoting positive nutrition outcomes to support/maintain Centers of Excellence status.
  • Manages positive patient outcomes of patients with complex medical conditions. Provides written documentation
  • (PCM and Out-Patient Medical Records) and verbal communication appropriately and in a timely manner, as defined by Clinical Nutrition and Bariatric Center Departmental policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:

REQUIRED

  • Four-year accredited degree in food and nutrition and successful completion of clinical experience through ADA accredited program evidenced by completion diploma or certificate

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

PREFERRED

  • Advanced certification recognized by ADA or ASMBS.

REQUIRED

  • Registered Dietitian by American Dietitian Association
  • Licensed by the State of Texas

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:

PREFERRED

  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in a hospital/Bariatric setting.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

PREFERRED

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Bariatric medicine and counseling skills essential for positive patient outcomes.
  • Ability to maintain effective, professional relationships with patients and families, physicians, and co-workers to ensure positive patient outcomes, and maintain Centers of Excellence status.

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
