Title: Commander for Peace Office Basic Training/Corrections Basic Training – Adult Workforce Development
Position Type: Adult Workforce Teaching
Minimum Qualifications:
Successful applicants must have or be able to secure state certification for teaching in public schools at the elementary, junior high, senior high or adult education level; submit an application to OPOTC for approval to become a School Commander; be a high school graduate or in possession of a GED certificate; have seven (7) years of experience as a full-time law enforcement officer, including two (2) years as a full-time law enforcement supervisor; completion of (90) quarter hours or sixty (60) semester hours at an accredited college or university; provide three professional references from a current police administrator with the rank of lieutenant or above; no convictions for a felony offense, a crime of moral turpitude, offense of violence, sexually oriented or child-victim oriented offense or any other peace officer disqualifying offense; must complete a School Commander Orientation conducted by an OPOTC Field Agent; must attend a School Commander’s Conference; demonstrate human relations and counseling skills, have good organizational and communication skills; successfully pass a BCI/FBI background check.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
The AWD BPOT Commander will: provide oversight of Peace Officer Basic Training Academy/Corrections Basic Training Academy; ensure compliance as prescribed by Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC), as related to requirements, policies and explanations for proper completion and sequence of required OPOTC forms for Peace Officer Basic Training/Corrections Basic Training Academy; follow all guidelines as outlined in the School Commander Manual for Peace Officer Basic Training/Corrections Basic Training Academy, and perform other duties as assigned
