A dynamic manufacturing facility is seeking an experienced Supervisor of Manufacturing Engineering to oversee on-site engineering operations. This leadership role is crucial in driving process improvements, cost reductions, and continuous enhancement of manufacturing operations. A well-structured transitional training period is available, as the current Leader remains in place until the end of May to ensure a seamless handover.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIESTeam Supervision & Leadership:Supervise a team of 8 direct reports and 3 hourly reports managed indirectly.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration across all levels of the organization.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the engineering team.
- Process & Product Development:Lead process development initiatives, major/minor improvements, and new product development.
- Oversee machine characterization, labor standards, and quality cost functions to enhance productivity.
- Operational Excellence & Cost Reduction:Drive cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize machine utilization and reduce quality costs.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to enhance operational efficiency.
- Technical Expertise & Compliance:Manage operations in medium voltage power cable manufacturing, with additional support for higher and lower voltage cables, including nuclear-grade products.
- Maintain a strong focus on extrusion, wire drawing, cabling, and stranding operations.
- Ensure compliance with IEEE, UL, AEIC, NEC, ASTM, 10CFR50/IE, and ISO 9000 industry standards.
- Customer & Corporate Relations:Engage directly with customers, conduct facility tours, and represent the company at events.
- Collaborate with corporate technical teams and support marketing and client initiatives.
- Data Management & Reporting:Develop and manage detailed reports independently using Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Access knowledge is a plus).
- Organize experimental development, process improvement, statistical process control (SPC), and metrology activities.
- Safety & Environmental Compliance:Promote a safety-first culture within the manufacturing environment.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and assess process impacts on plant-level liabilities.
- QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTSEducation & Experience:
- A 4-year technical degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (or related field), OR 5 years of hands-on experience in medium/heavy manufacturing.
- 10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Technical & Industry Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of cable manufacturing processes, industrial specifications, and quality standards.
- Experience with extrusion, wire drawing, cabling, and stranding operations.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Excellent report writing and documentation skills, with the ability to build and manage reports independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Microsoft Access is a plus.
- Analytical mindset with a focus on process and quality improvement.
- Systems-oriented approach with experience in distributed data management.
- Safety-conscious and knowledgeable about environmental regulations in a manufacturing setting.
- ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONReporting Structure: Reports directly to the Plant Manager, with regular interaction with corporate stakeholders.
- Transitional Training: The current Manager will remain in position until the end of May, ensuring a smooth and effective transition.

Salary : $110,000 - $120,000
