What are the responsibilities and job description for the Editor/Cinematographer position at Deloitte?

Editor / Cinematographer

Everyone knows a good film when they see it, but many less know how to create one. You do.

You're capable of crafting and reverse engineering the visuals that inspire you. You can take a creative vision - or your own - and turn it into a visual masterpiece. You also understand that a camera is a tool, and through editing, you find unlimited potential. You can work with directors from diverse backgrounds, clients with tight timelines, crew with varying degrees of expertise, talent who loosely define what it means to be talented, and you can do it all without missing the mark. Beyond just "set life", you'll also contribute to and push the creative vision of our video projects through development of storyboards, shot lists, graphical elements, and the pursuit of future-oriented efforts like, Virtual Production.

The Team

Our Customer Offering Portfolio integrates the differentiated customer and marketing businesses that support the mission-critical goals of federal, state, and local government agencies, and higher education institutions. By joining our team, you will play a vital role in making an impact for our clients and the people they serve through our growth strategy, enhanced user experiences, and engagement through the entire lifecycle of customers' interactions with the public sector.

Work You'll Do

  • Stitch together a story in post that makes your client weep (note: we've done it before) and makes the Deloitte Studio stand out as an industry-leading capability.
  • Navigate post-production tools like Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, and Blender to make the most of the material you have - both live action and some motion graphics elements.
  • Empower your team in pre-production, providing them with executable ideas that you will do in post-production.
  • Work as an individual or within a team to create a compelling story within the parameters of the project.
  • Create custom animations and graphics to support the story you're editing.
  • Operate cinema camera(s), set lighting, and adjust sound (or provide support to crew on set who has those roles) for short-form video projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Filmmaking or related field
  • 5 total years of production work including experience as an editor and camera operator.
  • Experience working on small crews and serving in various on-set roles.
  • Ability to work on site 50-100% of the time in Rosslyn, VA.
  • Ability to travel 10 - 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required level of federal security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical competence with Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Blender or C4D.
  • Technical competence with cinema cameras.
  • Technical competence with advanced camera supports and corresponding camera movements.
  • Advanced storytelling techniques such as Virtual Production and motion tracking.
  • Experience pitching new projects and creative concepts to new and existing clients.
  • Creating a film that moved someone to tears (in a good way... and they can't be related to you).
  • 360-degree video storytelling and production.
  • Experience with complex sound/microphone arrangements.
