Essential Job Functions:
- Inspects jobsites for potentially hazardous conditions, safe work practices, behaviors, health and environmental concerns and performs safety audits.
- Provides guidance and support to project management team and crew members for maintaining a safe and positive working environment.
- Responds to concerns and requests for information from HSE and Management Team.
- Investigates incidents thoroughly, including Apollo root cause analysis and recommends course of action to prevent future hazards.
- Recommends revisions to company safety procedures as needed.
- Works with the HSE team and management to create and/or update safety training programs, work instructions, and training records.
- Conducts health and safety training, orientation, and pre-hire testing.
- Performs periodic off-site inspections, announced, unannounced and follow-ups.
- Conducts UA testing, pre-employment, random, post-accident and reasonable suspicion.
- Creates and maintains a relationship with the Client safety representatives as appropriate.
- Conducts site assessments, records data, follows up on actions needed and provides feedback.
- Maintains Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Physical Agent Data Sheets (PADS).
- Inventories for work sites and shops, coordinates with Materials department and ensures inventory and catalog documents are current.
- Provides guidance to field supervisors in reporting incidents and gathering information.
- Communicates and supports project personnel on safety processes and any changes to policies that may affect project operations.
- Facilitates onsite hazard analyses/assessments of project scopes of work, implements and updates JHA for project.
- Supports field supervisors and craft in daily toolbox meetings.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
- Attends training sessions, seminars and appropriate educational classes required by department.
- Valid Driver License and clean driving record.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Five years’ directly related safety experience where 100% of the position’s day-to-day functions entailed safety, health, or environmental protection.
- Previous experience working rotational positions in remote locations.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements
- Working knowledge of craft disciplines and oil & gas industry terms and processes
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Ability to gather and analyze information
- Ability to work in groups
- Ability to use reason when dealing with highly emotional topics
- Ability to act in a professional manner at all times
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in the use of Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other office related programs i.e., SharePoint.
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
- Associate degree in safety related field (preferred)
- NSTC Card
- OSHA 30 (within one year)
- OSHA Authorized Instructor – Construction and/or General Industry (preferred)
- Current H2S Certification, or ability to obtain upon hire
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Work is usually done out of doors and sometimes at a client facility or job site. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. The incumbent is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles and equipment.
