DeMayo Law is seeking a detail-oriented, organized and multi-tasking Settlement Specialist who will be responsible for providing world-class customer service by accurately calculating disbursements and scheduling client appointments to assist clients with receiving their settlement offers as quickly as possible.
Responsibilities
- Calculate settlement disbursements for alphabetically assigned files.
- Record all settlement and Med Pay checks received for assigned files in Litify and departmental spreadsheet.
- Return applicable expired Med Pay checks to adjusters for reissue.
- Issue client checks for settlement appointments.
- Schedule settlement appointments for clients.
- Mail signed released to adjusters.
- Distribute settlement files scheduled for appointments to the appropriate location/office.
- Compile files for the next day’s appointments.
- Update settlement spreadsheet and Litify on a weekly basis.
- Assist Settlement Clerks with chiro-only files.
- Prepare workers’ compensation settlements.
Qualifications
- Basic accounting skills
- Ability to prioritize job responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to multi-task with high attention to detail
- Proven effective customer service skills
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, CPT & diagnostic codes, & HIPAA regulations preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows/Office & ability to learn & use various software programs
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
- Bachelor's degree preferred; however a combination of education, certifications and experience may be considered
- Two years of office/clerical experience, preferably in a legal, medical or insurance setting
- Accounting experience preferred
- Notary Public preferred
- Prior experience with Litify or other CRM software preferred
