PURPOSE OF JOB
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our transit agency team. In this role, you will focus on maintaining and enhancing transit facilities to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for customers and staff. This is a hands-on position with opportunities for growth and development in facilities maintenance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of transit facilities, including bus stops, train stations, offices, restrooms, and parking lots.
- Assist in the repair and upkeep of facility elements such as doors, windows, flooring, and walls.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and address maintenance needs, ensuring facilities meet safety and operational standards.
- Support basic maintenance tasks, including painting, pressure washing, and minor carpentry.
- Maintain agency signage, shelters, benches, and other amenities in good condition.
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining facility systems such as lighting, HVAC, and plumbing, with supervision.
- Follow safety procedures and agency guidelines in all work activities.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and ensure workspaces are clean and organized.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Any equivalent combination of education and experience)
High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic knowledge of tools and equipment used in facilities maintenance.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, and working outdoors in varying conditions.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
Willingness to learn and grow in a facilities maintenance role.
Applicants must have at least two years of driving history and possess a valid, unrestricted license.
Established driving history must be clear of the following:
- No moving violations on driving record within the last thirty- six (36) months.
- No accidents where the applicant has contributed to cause within the 3 years prior to the application date.
- Have appeared in court as required.
No violations related to drugs/alcohol.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Previous experience in facilities maintenance or a related field is a plus.
Familiarity with transit facilities or public spaces is an advantage.
WORK SCHEDULE
Full-time position, with the possibility of occasional evening or weekend shifts as needed.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Physical activity includes, but is not limited to: on a continuous basis, sit on bus for long periods of time; prolonged periods of driving; write or use keyboard to communicate through written means; repeated use of sight to inspect work and equipment; repetitive hand motions, such as steering; hearing and speech to communicate both on the phone and in person. Involves travel in automobile and walking. Frequently requires use of hands, fingers, repetitive hand/finger motions, and sitting, as well as bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, standing for long periods, walking, reaching with hands and arms, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. Repeated use of hearing and speech to communicate on telephone, radios, and in person. Will work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, and noise. Performs tasks that require physical strength, such as climbing ladders and work in confined spaces.
