Job Purpose

Under the direction of the Custodial Supervisor, this position is responsible for performing janitorial duties and keeping the Denver Center Facilities in a clean and orderly condition by performing any combination of the following duties: Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming hallways, stairs and office space, Empting trash and garbage containers. This position also entails heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
  • Gather and empty trash and recycled materials in all public spaces, restrooms, dressing rooms replacing liners and cleaning receptacles as necessary.
  • Service, sanitize, and supply restrooms.
  • Clean sinks, countertops, microwaves, and refrigerators in break rooms, green rooms and dressing rooms.
  • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
  • Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
  • Restock all supplies in bathrooms, break rooms, storage closets, and common areas.
  • Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
  • Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain janitorial equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition.
  • Proper labeling, dilution and use of all chemicals.
  • Maintain vending closets and all janitorial equipment in a clean, organized and safe manner.
  • Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.
  • Assist with all grounds keeping (trash removal)
  • Other job duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience in cleaning of Facilities
  • The ability to carry out fundamental instructions, or requests in English or Spanish

Working Conditions

  • The work is primarily performed in one 166,000 square foot building including theaters, lobbies, restrooms, offices, dressing rooms, green rooms, loading docks, with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities. Cleaning tasks may be assigned in other DCPA facilities as needed.
  • May be exposed to fumes and or airborne particles
  • May be exposed to heights up to 50 feet
  • May be asked to work late and weekend hours

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, walk, stand and hear, and communicate over radio. The work requires routine bending and carrying items weighing less than fifty pounds. Moving items over fifty pounds utilizes a team lift, and may need to work in aerial lifts at height up to 50 feet.


PLEASE NOTE: The Denver Center for the Performing Arts has implemented a COVID-19 requirement, all employees must be vaccinated and present proof of their vaccination.

COMPENSATION: $17.00 Hourly.
