What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Maintenance Technician position at Denver Transit Operators?
Denver Transit Operators (DTO) is a privately held company that has a 29-year contract with the Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) to operate and maintain the new commuter rail system within the Greater Denver Metro area. We currently have a full time opportunity for a skilled and experienced Facilities Maintainer. We are seeking a committed individual that is responsible maintaining DTO facilities including the Commuter Rail Maintenance Facility and commuter rail stations.
This is a full-time position and with a starting hourly rate of $27.68 to $29.35. This position is a union-represented position and candidates must join the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen union as a condition of employment.
As the Facilities Maintainer some of your duties will be to:
- Inspect buildings, structures and facilities to ensure compliance with DTO facility maintenance and safety standards.
- Identify conditions that require attention and correct defects or issue notices for corrections to appropriate staff.
- Perform building modifications, and all other facility maintenance that does not require the attention of a licensed craftsman. This includes, but it not limited to, painting and drywall, landscaping, sprinkler maintenance, asphalt and concrete repairs, graffiti removal, glass and door repairs, light bulbs changes, light fixtures repairs and trash and snow removal.
- Complete reports and record completed inspections and repairs using preventive maintenance software.
- Complete all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3 years of experience working in electricity up to 600 Volts, plumbing, construction, HVAC, machine shop and irrigation systems preferred; Experience working in an industrial or commercial environment highly desired.
- Ability to identify and assess defects in the appearance or functionality and repair damages.
- Ability to comply with all safety rules and instructions including the use of proper personal protective equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret operating and maintenance manuals, schematics, prints and instructions.
- Ability to safely operate equipment and tools typically used in buildings and grounds maintenance.
- Ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite products with the ability to prepare reports.
- Must be able to work outside in variable weather conditions.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license; Class A CDL preferred.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical examination.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug and alcohol screening and be willing to comply with the DTO Drug and Alcohol Policy
