Summer Position:
Full Time - 40 hours per week
Monday - Friday - Flexible hours between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm / 8 hours per day
Hybrid – Remote work and on-site at the Denver Water Administration Building or Construction Sites

The Mechanical Engineering Team is in the Programs and Projects Section of Engineering. Seven Mechanical Engineers work on Capital Improvement projects and Operational Projects that keep our system running smoothly.
Internship Project Description:
This intern will join the Mechanical Engineering Team in the Programs and Projects Section of Engineering and will assist other Professional Engineers and Engineering Associates working on:
- Mechanical systems related to Pump Stations, Hydroelectric Power Plants, Valve Vaults, Water Treatment Plants, Reservoir Outlet Works, Gates, Valves, Hydraulic Power Units, HVAC and ancillary systems
- System design and operation troubleshooting and calculations
- Contract Management and Services During Construction including technical reviews conforming to material specifications, site visits and inspections, equipment start up and commissioning
- Site inspections to verify proper operating parameters.
- Studies to improve operational efficiency

- Technical writing experience
- Affinity towards construction and building meaningful projects that improve the quality of life in the Denver Metro area
- Self-motivated
- Inquisitive
- Enjoy working as a team and advancing projects from design through construction
- Experience using engineering calculation software such as MATLAB, Mathcad, Engineering Equation Solver, or similar.
- Previous coursework in Classical Mechanics, Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Introductory Electrical Circuits, Numerical Methods/Programming, and Machine Design is preferred.
