Program
Depaul USA is a day resource center, medical respite, and housing program that provides services to individuals facing the immediate crisis of homelessness. We provide a welcoming place where individuals can get a hot meal, relax, shower, do laundry, obtain medical care, attend classes, and speak with case managers. Depaul USA provides housing, medical respite, and connects participants to community-based organizations and resources and helps move homeless men and women to lives of increased stability.
Position Description
Respite Manager at Depaul USA’s day resource center, medical respite, and housing program in Macon, GA, helps program participants build lives of greater dignity and independence. The Respite Manager oversees all aspects of the 12-bed respite, works closely with Daybreak and the clinic, and networks with hospitals, Macon Housing Authority, FQHC Clinic, physician offices, agencies, Department of Public Health, and providers to link participants with services. Recruits and trains staff and volunteers to provide services for participants and monitors their services. S/he provides these services in a manner consistent with the values and strategies of Depaul USA.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions
· Manages all aspects of Respite Services. In cooperation with the directors and clinic manager, create and maintain systems, procedures, and processes for the delivery of services at the respite.
· In cooperation with the Directors, develop strategic objectives and vision of the respite.
· In cooperation with the Directors and volunteer coordinator, create and maintain systems, procedures and processes for the recruitment, management, and deployment of respite staff and volunteers. Directly manage and supervise the Respite staff, volunteers, and agencies that provide services at the Respite.
· Oversee the approval, onboarding, individualized plan, and discharge for respite participants. As appropriate, goes to the hospitals to assess potential participants. Assure that intake paperwork is completed promptly for all new participants.
· Oversee the coordination of participants care. Assure that each participant has a service plan, is moving toward goals and this is charted in New Org data system. Oversee the participants ability to follow plan of care including making and getting to appointments to see the provider, filling out applications, connecting with FQHC to apply or the prescription assistance program and attending, enrichment programs, and preparing for discharge/housing. Works closely with case managers on this. Makes regular rounds to assess each participant.
· Help with referrals to and transportation to supportive services for medical/mental health follow-up, Social Security, SNAP, housing, health insurance, and other services commensurate with participants’ needs.
· Oversee the participants access to medicines, medical supplies and other items they need to follow their plan of care.
· Refer participants to existing medical services offered at the clinic and/or outside medical services if needed. Work with the Clinic Manager on plans for clinic patients.
· Oversee the follow-up of patients discharged from respite.
· Work with assistant director and administrative coordinator to order supplies needed to carry out day to day operations including pantry items, medical supplies, lightbulbs, hand sanitizer, shower and floor cleaners. Manage food supplies, daily meals/snacks, and food service procedures.
· Works closely with directors, clinic manager, case managers, volunteer coordinator, security, and maintenance to assure participant and respite needs are met.
· Safely operate a motor vehicle to transport and assist participants to their destinations, ensuring their well-being and comfort during the journey.
· Manage Human Resources tasks promptly; submit payroll to Assistant Director, orient new staff, submit new employee forms to Assistant Director of Operations.
· In cooperation with the Directors, develop the respite’s annual budget and implement the budget by managing petty cash and credit cards expenditures and provide required reporting in a timely matter to Assistant Director.
· Complete Quarterly Reports. Gathers, maintains, and provides to Depaul USA program outcomes and other data required to assess the effectiveness of the respite.
Additional Tasks and Responsibilities
· Oversee discipline of participants. Work closely with security and assistant director on this.
· Ensure cleanliness of facility inside and outside and trash pick-up. Work with assistant director in schedule, coordinate, and supervise maintenance and repairs to the respite.
· Provide leadership in the design and implementation of studies to assess effectiveness of Respite programs and initiatives.
· Work with the director and administrative coordinator in receiving, acknowledging, and reporting respite donations of in-kind goods and services.
· Answer the phone and messages.
· With the clinic manager, maintains relationships with key partners including hospitals, Bibb County Medical Association, Department of Public Health, physicians. Regularly meet with hospital partners.
· Coordinate and lead the monthly respite clinical advisory committee.
· When authorized in the absence of other members of leadership team, act as supervisor for designated area.
· Collaborate with other agencies in the community and participate in coalition meetings. Build good working relationships with other stakeholders, programs, services, and agencies in the community.
· Assist the program team with special events or other activities that require teamwork.
General Responsibilities
· Stay informed of current local and national events, trends, and issues, that impact Depaul USA’s work with the homeless.
· Strive continuously to develop the role in collaboration with the supervisor to ensure that all tasks are being undertaken in an effective and appropriate manner, meeting the strategic goals and objectives of Depaul USA.
· Participate in internal/external meetings as required, attends training events, conferences, and other functions as necessary.
· Participate in regular supervision and annual evaluations, identifying his or her own developmental and training needs.
· Ensure adherence to all Depaul USA policies and procedures, particularly those relating to Health and Safety and the Code of Practice and Confidentiality.
· Contribute to the effective implementation of Depaul USA’s Equal Opportunities Policy as it affects both the organization and its work with this client group.
· Undertake the role in a professional manner maintaining a high-quality standard of work, in accordance with the Vision, Mission and Values of Depaul USA.
Qualifications
The ideal Respite Manager will be a professional with several years of experience in the medical field, social work, and management with vulnerable segments of the population. S/he will have experience working with individuals who have faced homelessness and struggled with issues of mental illness, cognitive disabilities, and addictions, as well people who are newly housed or employed. The Respite Manager will also understand health systems and social work theories and methodologies, be familiar with relevant partner agencies, and comprehend the needs of individuals seeking services. The Respite Manager should possess the following:
· Bachelor's degree or the equivalence in health services or human services or closely related field with at least one year in management and two years’ experience working with populations affected by behavioral health diagnoses, addiction, and/or homelessness.
- Exceptional communication, multi‐tasking, conflict management and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills with all Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to organize tasks, events, people, and delegate effectively.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment when appropriate and strong decision-making skills.
- Experience working with diverse populations and the ability to meet tenants in their homes or in the communities where they reside.

Work Schedule:
· Primarily Monday-Friday, 8-4pm, but alters schedule to be present and supervise all shifts.
· In rotation with leadership team on call evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
· Flexible in adjusting schedule to meet the needs of Depaul USA Macon, including educational programs, warming center, opening, closing, and on call.
