General Ledger (GL) Accountant
Location: Birmingham, AL (Hybrid)
About the Role
We’re looking for a detail-oriented General Ledger Accountant to support accurate financial
reporting and month-end close in a dynamic, growing organization. Agency experience is
strongly preferred for this role is ideal for someone who understands project-based accounting,
multiple cost centers, and the pace of client-driven work.
You’ll play a key role in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, collaborating
cross-functionally, and helping leadership understand the financial story behind the numbers.
Key Responsibilities
● Own and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
● Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
● Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
● Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances
● Support project/client accounting, including revenue recognition and expense
allocation
● Assist with financial statements and internal reporting
● Partner with AP, AR, and FP&A to ensure clean financial data
● Support audits and provide documentation as needed
● Continuously improve accounting processes and controls
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
● 3–6 years of accounting experience
● Agency, professional services, or project-based accounting experience strongly
preferred
● Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
● Experience with accounting systems (NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
● Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas)
● CPA or CPA-track is a plus, not required
