POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for patient care under the direction of a surgical provider. Duties include but are not limited to patient intake, procedure set-up, surgical assistance, and other administrative duties.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Room patient and verify patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit.
• Collect and process blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimen for laboratory testing in compliance with CLIA regulations.
• Explain treatment procedures, medications, aftercare, and providers’ instructions to patients.
• Clean and sterilize medical instruments and utilize sterile technique when assembling surgical trays.
• Document patient visits and record appropriate charges for the billing department.
• Perform follow up calls to patients after their surgical procedures.
• Assist providers as needed during examinations and surgical procedures such as Mohs and excisions. Duties include but are not limited to handing them instruments, performing injections, removing sutures, or phlebotomy.
• Clean examination rooms and other work areas and stock inventory as needed.
• Train new employees as needed.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Friendly, polite, and professional. Clear communication skills.
• Proficient with an EMR system (Electronic Medical Records) ideally Nextech.
• General Dermatology MA experience.

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
• Shows ability to multitask.
• Shows ability to manage times wisely.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

• Must be flexible and willing to travel to other surgical locations when needed
  • This position travels to Skokie, Oak Park, and Naperville
• Will be assigned to surgical shifts primarily; general dermatology shifts will be offered if surgical shifts are not available.

Pay Rate: $19.00
