What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Dermatology and Laser Associates of Medford?

Job Summary: Medical Assistant is responsible for all of the day-to-day duties in the back office clinic and assists the provider. This includes: bringing patients back, performing procedures, injections, setup and cleanup of biopsy shave/punch, electrodesiccation and curettage, and excision with (simple/intermediate/complex) closures. Medical assistants will be able to perform sterile and non-sterile precautions and procedures, sterile wraps, and care of instruments. The Medical Assistant must also consistently demonstrate sensitivity to the patient’s needs and requirements. The Medical Assistant must have a professional appearance at all times.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to understand and retain knowledge and understanding of Dermatology skin conditions, medications used, procedures, and treatments
  • Computer knowledge
  • Telephone skills include ability to do telephone triage and pathology call backs, call in prescriptions and work on medication prior-authorizations
  • Must be able to accommodate a full-time work schedule, with regular attendance and timeliness. Should be able to accommodate over-time, as needed

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Deliver an excellent patient experience by way of exemplary patient focus and customer service skills
  • Assist the physician with in office examinations
  • Assist the physician with minor surgical procedure utilizing aseptic technique including, but not limited to, collecting biopsies, excisions, and Mohs surgery
  • Communicating instructions and assisting patients
  • Document appropriately into an electronic health record (EHR)
  • Give Injections
  • Suture Removals
  • Prepare and clean examination rooms
  • Clean and sterilize instruments
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance
  • Other duties as assigned

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift
  • Monday-Thursday

Salary : $34,100 - $43,200
