Overview
This position is responsible for assisting the physician in caring for patients which includes: bringing patients to the appropriate exam room and preparing them for an examination, taking a complete history, assisting the physician in any further documentation, assisting the physician during surgical procedures, educating patients, assisting in patient check-out, and answering patient phone calls. Furthermore, this position is responsible for cleaning instruments and accounting for any stock needs. This position will also be trained to assist at the front desk should staffing require it.

Essential Functions
Nurse activities - 95 percent of time
- Assists the physician in caring for patients.
- Brings patients to the appropriate exam room and prepares them for examination.
- Takes a complete history.
- Assists the physician in documentation of physical examination, labs, assessment, and plan.
- Assists the physician during surgical procedures.
- Bandages patients after surgical procedures.
- Instructs patients about wound care.
- Removes sutures.
- Educates patients as instructed by the physician.
- Assists in patient check-out.
- Cleans the exam room in preparation for a new patient.
- Administers topical medications, subcutaneous injections, or intramuscular injections as instructed by the physician.
- Dispenses samples as instructed by the physician.
- Answers and returns patient phone calls.
- Calls pharmacies for prescriptions and refills as instructed by the physician.
- Cleans instruments.
- Accounts for any stock deficiencies and notifies the appropriate purchaser.
Other activities - 5 percent of time
- Assists the physician with a variety of other duties as assigned.
