What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder position at Derrick Corp?
Welder is responsible for welding and fabrication to specific product drawing requirements for equipment to ultimately be used in the Mining and Mineral processing industry as well as the Oil and Gas industry. Responsibilities can include working on the automated welding line or on the custom fabrication side which entails working to ensure proper safety and quality standards are met.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Valid NYS Driver’s License required
- Prior welding experience or completed welding certificate from a technical school
- Ability to pass WQTR (Welder Qualification Test Record) test specific to various Derrick welding procedures
- Understanding of basic welding processes:
- GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW
- Mechanical aptitude to utilize hand tools and power tools
- Flexibility to be cross trained in other departments
- Strong desire for safety practices and following company policies and procedures as they pertain to safety
Requirements:
- Read blueprints and/or CAD drawings to interpret custom specifications
- Familiarity working with multiple filler metals and shielding gas
- Working with multi fuel gas torching, plasma cutting, and grinding
- Ability to set up welding machine
- Ability to take parts from raw fabricated form to a full weldment
- Meeting the dimensional and welding specifications laid out by the engineering drawings and work instructions
- Reading a tape measure, protractor, and/or other measuring devices
Derrick Corporation has a standard work week of 47.5 hours, associates are paid overtime daily for anything over 8 hours.
