The DeSales Middle School Social Studies Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction aligned with the New York State Learning Standards for Social Studies, fostering critical thinking, civic engagement, and historical understanding among students in grades 6-8. The successful candidate should have the following:
- A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in social studies and/or education.
- New York State certification in social studies
- Experience using technology as an instructional tool
- A commitment to continuous improvement
- The ability to differentiate instruction for accelerated and delayed learners
- Strong classroom management skills
Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging social studies lessons that align with NYS Learning Standards.
- Integrate reading, writing, and research skills into social studies instruction.
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and inquiry.
- Utilize technology and multimedia tools to enhance instruction.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Participate in curriculum development, faculty meetings, and professional learning.
- Implement IEP and accommodation plans as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
