We are looking for motivated turf interns to join our agronomy team for an exciting summer in Stowe, VT!
About Us:
The Club at Spruce Peak is an exclusive, year ‑ round mountain community located in the heart of Stowe, Vermont. Members enjoy premier amenities including a 21,000 sq. ft. spa and wellness center, personalized concierge services, a private Alpine Clubhouse, championship golf, and direct access to world ‑ class skiing. The Club fosters a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere built around exceptional service and unforgettable experiences.
The agronomy team at Spruce Peak manages two private 18 ‑ hole golf courses:
Stowe Mountain Club — A top ‑ ranked alpine course situated at the base of Stowe Mountain Resort, known for its challenging layout and dramatic mountain setting.
Stowe Country Club — A recently renovated course by Beau Welling Design, offering elevated playability and rustic Vermont charm. Located in the town of Stowe.
Internship Overview
Our Turf Internship is designed to provide hands ‑ on, career ‑ building experience for students pursuing turfgrass management or related fields. Interns will gain exposure to all facets of golf course maintenance while working alongside experienced Superintendents and a dedicated agronomy team.
This program emphasizes mentorship, skill development, and real ‑ world application — preparing interns for future roles in golf course management.
Interns will spend approximately 8 weeks at Stowe Mountain Club and 8 weeks at Stowe Country Club, gaining experience across two distinct, high ‑ end courses.
Pay Rate: $23.50 per hour

What You’ll Learn & Do

- Irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, and software management
- Water management strategies
- Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
- Pesticide applications (with proper licensing/training)
- Course construction and renovation projects
- Cultural practices (aeration, topdressing, etc.)
- Equipment operation and basic maintenance
- Exposure to budgeting, planning, and agronomic decision ‑ making
- Enrollment in a 2 ‑ or 4 ‑ year turfgrass management or related program
- Strong interest in pursuing a career in golf course maintenance
- Willingness to learn, collaborate, and take initiative
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
