Unit Specializes in: 5 West serves a variety of patient types. Heart Monitoring, Observation, General Medical/Surgical, Oncology/Chemo, Medical Psychiatry, or Palliative/Hospice, each one has their own unique requirement of care. Our 39 bed unit provides the individualize plan each patient needs to return to a pre-hospitalization state or as close as to be expected. You will get the experience to be part of a collaborative medical team that discusses what the best is for the patient. Our RN ratio is 1:5 or 1:6 based on acuity. Summary Description
The Nurse Extern I (NE I) is a member of the patient care services team with primary responsibilities for technical, multi-skilled direct and indirect patient care activities.
The NE I is assigned to work under the supervision of a registered nurse who delegates tasks based upon patient needs and NE I skills and abilities.
NE I will report all deviations from expected patient parameters to the registered nurse.
It is recognized that specific patient care tasks may vary widely in type and frequency from unit to unit or across service lines, based on the nature of the patient population being served.
Students hired as Nurse Extern I have the job duties of a patient care tech or equivalent role.
