In accordance with the Agreement between the Organization of School Administrators and supervisors and the Detroit Public School Community District the following vacancy is announced:
Position Summary:
The Program Associate will be responsible for A portfolio of schools establishing FACE programs and supporting other compliance expectations related to Title I. In addition, the planning and growth of Parent Teacher Home Visit (PTHVP)will be a key initiative in this role. Establishing regular communication and engagement at assigned schools, the program associate will directly support school-based parent outreach coordinators to play a key role in programming and promotion of parent opportunities at each local school through Parent Academy. Working with the FACE team and across departments, the expansion and coordination of PTHVP at all schools and increasing the impact of program outcomes from previous years is expected. The program associate will be expected to learn the program models to ensure oversight and implementation with fidelity.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (or five (5) years of school and community organizing experience directly engaging stakeholders especially parents and students with Title I funded programs may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree)
Candidates must possess a minimum of (3) years of experience in an administrative position in parent and family engagement.
Knowledge of ESEA/ESSA as it relates to Title I Parent/Family/School Involvement.
Experience with parent leadership, school communities and city wide parental and community involvement events, activities, conferences and developing training and workshops.
Experience with working with all communities (such as Hmong, Arabic Hispanic and/or Bengali), in the implementation of parental professional development programs, customer service and parent/community organizing.
Demonstrate an understanding of and the value of parent engagement in the education of children in Detroit Public Schools Community District.
Must have strong communications and excellent interpersonal skills including a professional, parent/community-oriented demeanor, excellent knowledge of grammar and business correspondence.
Essential Functions:
Assist with the School Parent Outreach Coordinators districtwide
Growth and implementation of Parent Teacher Home Visit
Recruit and engage teachers, parents, and other caregivers in PTHVP including data collection
Coordinate PTHVP training and advance supply deliveries
Work with evaluator to implement PTHVP Evaluation
Oversee and support up to 10 schools to establish FACE programs
Assist in the development, promotion, and execution of parent academy in assigned schools
Support the establishment and growth of a parent organization
Based on 2022-2023 parent organization data, increase parent involvement by 20%
Develop a strong working relationship with the Principal, parent leaders and other stakeholders within the school community.
Promote FACE initiatives as appropriate across school sites and secure target sites for participations
Manage the successful implementation of FACE programs within schools
Proactively identify and solve issues evolving across schools
Assist in required Title 1 Meetings, Parent Involvement Policy
Fulfill reporting, other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Family and Community Engagement
