Job Summary:
Brake operator sets up and operates power brake to bend, form, and straighten sheet metal and structures shapes to blueprint specification.
Job Responsibilities:
- Selects, positions, and aligns dies in machine ram and bed
- Turns setscrews or bolts to fasten clamp bar that holds dies in position
- Lays out or details layout on work stock from blueprints
- Starts machine to lower ram or depresses pedal to activate ram that bends metal
- Use part prints and shop math to figure important measurements for the parts being made
- Use radius gauges to inspect parts when needed
- Willingness to assist in other areas as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications (Required)
- At least 18 years of age (required at all locations)
- High School diploma or GED (required at all locations)
Job Qualifications (Preferred):
- Previous manufacturing experience
- Ability to use measuring and gauging tools such as micrometer, caliper, and radius gauges
- Math and blueprint reading skills sufficient to setup production presses
Physical Requirements of the Job:
- Frequent walking, standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting and lifting for 8-12 hours per day
- Able to work in non-climate-controlled and noisy environment
- Frequent overhead reaching and reaching with both hands
- Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting or maneuvering loads up to 50 lbs
- Able to wear and tolerate Personal Protective Equipment (apparel and devices)
- Vision acuity, corrected or uncorrected, capable of reading documents, blueprints, gauges, equipment settings, calibration instruments, parts labels and written materials
- Reliable to come to work every day and be on-time
- Flexible work availability, including Overtime during the week and weekends
1st Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm
2nd Shift: 2:30pm - 11:00pm
3rd Shift: 10:00pm - 6:30am
**Overtime may be required during the week and on weekends**
