Developmental Pathways (DP) is looking for an Associate Director of Human Resources (AD of HR) to join our team! This is a compelling opportunity to join a collaborative and forward-thinking team. The AD of HR will provide consultation and solutions to leaders on aspects of the employee experience including employment law compliance, performance management, team effectiveness, development advising, and change management. In addition, this role will oversee employee on/offboarding, culture and engagement, partnering on HR-led DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) work where applicable, employee recognition, and other retention programming. The AD of HR will work in partnership with internal teams to design and execute related initiatives. This role will manage a team of HR staff and will help address all staff-related issues, policies, programs, and processes. Success in this role will require high independence and the ability to exercise discretion, initiative, influence, and sound judgment.
This is a 40-hour per week, hybrid position, having the benefit of working remotely and coming into our headquarters office in Aurora, CO, and other off-site locations.

Additional Responsibilities
- Manage the organization’s performance management program including performance tool enhancements and development oversight, including related training and communications
- Provide relevant training and guidance to managers on delivering effective performance feedback and managing difficult conversations, including conflict resolution, change management, low performance, etc.
- Advise on the scope, intent, and application of policies, procedures, and or state and federal regulations related to the employment lifecycle in collaboration with other stakeholders
- Help direct day-to-day management of employee relations functions, including personnel investigations
- Oversee the leave management of FMLA, STD, LTD, FAMLI and other programs, including advising leaders and staff
- Design and execute different employee surveys, leveraging organizational data and employee feedback to inform engagement and retention strategies and initiatives
- Establish and ensure successful, productive, and collaborative partnerships across different departments, leaders, and their teams
- In partnership with the talent acquisition team, leads the interactive accommodation process
- In collaboration with HR team partners, assess, design, implement, and oversee human resources strategies and tactics that support DP’s organizational goals; ensure team members are aware of established goals and objectives and align work accordingly
- Track and report on designated metrics, looking at trends and best practices in employee recognition and making recommendations as required
- Track employment-related local, state, and federal regulatory requirements and manage implementation and updates to processes, policies, and systems
- Maintain employee handbook and its policies to reflect employment law updates and in alignment with internal requirements
- Proactively keep abreast of, and comply with, labor law regulations including but not limited to FLSA, DOL, LOAs, FMLA, STD/LTD, Workers Compensation, FFCRA, ADA, ARPA, and other state or federal employment-related regulations
Qualifications
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field, and/or a certificate in Human Resources; combined experience and education may be substituted for bachelor’s degree requirements
- A minimum of six – eight (6-8) years of experience in human resources with increased responsibility
- A minimum of three (3) years of managerial/supervisory experience
- Must include experience in personnel investigations, creation and application of policies or procedures, and working within complex organizations
- Of the required minimum experience, must also have at least 3 years of experience in a supervisory or management level role with direct responsibility to coach and mentor assigned staff
- Advanced skills in exhibiting objective, reasoned judgement; can clearly and concisely explain business and other rationale for decisions and includes appropriate people in decision-making
- Proactively identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, safeguarding sensitive data and maintaining positive interpersonal relationships.
- Strong existing commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility as evidenced by significant (in time spent, seniority of role, etc.) volunteer or professional work in this area
- Strong project management skills to drive projects to completion, including the ability to lead complex projects, establish and manage work plans, oversee and delegate to team members, and meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to build positive relationships with multiple stakeholder groups
Preferred
- Master’s Degree in HR Management, Strategic HR, Organizational Development, or a closely related field
- Five (5) years of supervision or management experience preferred
- PHR certification preferred
- Experience working in a non-profit for disability-related field
- Strong written and oral (including presentation) communication skills
- Ability to establish credibility and develop, maintain, and influence at all levels in the organization while building relationships and trust during times of change and transition
